About Coach Lori

Coach Lori grew up around the pool and joined the swim team at age 8. She competed year-round from Grade 2 through college. Lori was an NCAA Division I swimmer at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and completed her collegiate swimming career at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Lori also played Varsity water polo in high school.

Lori Urban now resides with her husband Chris, and daughter Emily (age 5), in Studio City and runs Lori’s Swim House.

Lori previously worked as:

  • Assistant Swim Coach at SOCAL Aquatics in Tustin, California for 2 years for the introductory age group of new swimmers ages 5-8, teaching more than one hundred kids every summer all four strokes, turns, and dives

  • Lead instructor at Tustin Unified School District summer swim program for 6 years

  • Swim Coach at Rose Bowl Aquatics Center (RBAC) in Pasadena for The Rays Swim Team, teaching swimmers with special needs

  • 1:1 Private Swim Instructor for more than 10 years

With more than 15 years of swim coach and private instructor experience, Lori has taught 1,000s of kids from infants to age 12 how to swim!
