About Coach Lori

Quality, safe, nurturing swim lessons for your kiddos at Lori’s private heated pool in Studio City

Coach Lori grew up around the pool and joined the swim team at age 8. She competed year-round from Grade 2 through college. At age 16, Lori opened her own business, originally founded as Lori’s Swim School, to teach babies, kids, and adults how to swim. Lori ran this business while competing in high school and in college.

Lori was an NCAA Division I swimmer at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and completed her collegiate swimming career at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.

At the start of her swim career, Lori was the Assistant Swim Coach at SOCAL Aquatics in Tustin, California. She coached the introductory age group for new swimmers, ages 5-8, teaching all four strokes, turns, and dives. Lori also taught American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Lessons for many years through the Tustin Unified School District to babies, Parent & Me, toddlers, and older kids.

After moving to Los Angeles, Lori was a Swim Coach at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center (RBAC) for The Rays Swim Team, teaching swimmers with special needs. She also was a Private Swim Instructor there.

Lori’s speciality is teaching small kids from babies to age six how to swim, develop stroke technique, and love the water.

Lori Urban now resides with her family in Studio City and runs Lori’s Swim House. With more than 15 years of swim coach and private instructor experience, Lori has taught more than 1,500 kids from infants to age 12 how to swim!
